Jenn Cortés (b.1985)
Brooklyn, NY
My work set in nature, celebrating animals and biological subjects, marrying themes from religious art and science illustration with memory, discovery and nostalgia. In the past 10 years I have focused on making work that is under five inches as a meditative practice. The challenge of painting intricate details on a small surface has revealed the impact of a small dot of paint, a drop of water, a breath.
