Layover Portrait Gallery is a site-specific painting installation created for New York City Audubon Society's Governors Island outpost in Nolan House 17, a former military home built in the late 19th century.

On August 1, 2018, I installed miniature gouache paintings of 72 species of birds that can be seen throughout Governors Island at various times during the year. Each painting was inserted in the cracks and peeling sections of walls, along with golden flourish that mirrored the Victorian motifs used in the original design of the building. The space became activated with depictions of wildlife reclaiming a decaying building as their own.
